Don’t be the rain man

When I started playing online casino roulette I thought it will be nice to have all the time in the world to scroll down the previous winning numbers, and come up with some secret equation. I’ve got a reasonable understanding in math, so really – how hard could it possibly be?!?

My various attempts this past year proved almost without a doubt that when it comes to roulette, there is no place here for probability nor for any math equations. In fact the less you think, the better you’ll score. I absolutely sucked at roulette this last year with a good collection of scribbled math notes to show for it. Guys, really, come on. Roulette? At online casino sites? what’s the big deal? I am a regular visitor to online casino sites, but I’ve still to realize what’s so great about roulette at the online casinos. Online Mac poker – help

Hello people! We all here know what a wonderful game online poker is, so I won’t blab much about it. What I wanted to say though, is that recently I am facing a huge problem playing my favorite online poker at home. Fibonacci system

Hey, folks! I would like to share with you a great baccarat system that I found on one of the many baccarat websites. It is called the Fibonacci system. It is used in small stakes baccarat games and it is mainly useful to cope with small lost bets. This system does not require a large bankroll. When you use the Fibonacci betting system you place a bet of one unit and the progression begins only when you lose.

This is the Fibonacci system: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987 and so on. And this is the way you use it: first, you start betting a single unit (in a $1 minimum online baccarat table the basic unit would be $1). When you lose you bet one more time a single unit ($1). If you lose one more time the Fibonacci system continues to progress and then you must place two units ($2) and so on.

Basically, the system converts your last two bets. For example, if you get to place 8 units ($8) and win your total net lost is: -($1)-($1)-($2)-($3)-($5) $8=(-$4), which is a considerable lost. This system is not useful in high-limits games where your basic unit is $10 or more. Anyhow, you should first try this system at some free online casinos, but I’m telling you, this system really works!

I’ve finally managed to work on my phobia from online casino gambling and gave it a shot a few weeks ago. First Thing in the Morning

Years ago, when I would wake up, I would press the button and turn on the kettle even before I turn on the light. Then I find the door knob, turn it and bring in the newspaper from the doorstep. If I would even look at the front page, it would be for the headline, nothing more than that. I would instead go directly to the Sports section. But this was years ago, and it has changed since, with the invention of the internet, for one.

See, I am no longer subscribed to receiving the daily newsppaer on a daily basis. Sure, it comes around the weekend, three days of the week, mainly for keeping the habit of sitting on the front lawn, coffee (coffee again?) and newspaper on my lap. But on a regular morning i go to the computer and check out the news over there. and guess what the default home page is set to on my computer - and me being a news freak if i may say so myself - it is online gambling news!

Ball Game A keno game where the numbers are written on plastic balls.

Expected Value

Field
A group of marked spots that is not circled.
Flashboard

A ticket played for some fraction of the normal rate.
Free Play
A keno win that pays no money, but enables you to play your bet again.
Goose
The machine that blows the keno balls up into two long tubes.
Group
Spots that are circled or separated from the other spots marked on a keno ticket.
Handle
The total of all money taken in for a game, shift, day or some other period of time.
High End Ticket
A keno ticket that pays more for catching a high number of spots, but less (or nothing) for catching fewer spots (as compared to a regular ticket).
High Roller Ticket
A ticket that has a high minimum ticket price.
Hit
When a drawn number matches the spot on your ticket.
Hold
Handle minus payoffs, or the total admission money after paying out all winning tickets.
House Edge
Also known as PC (percent casino). The percent of all wagers the house can expect to win, over a period of time. Can differ extensively, but normally is about 30%.
Inside Ticket
A keno ticket that is completed and turned in to the casino.
Jackpot
The prize paid in a progressive. Technically, the jackpot is the amount above the regular payoff for the game. For instance, if the progressive payoff is $25,453 but the regular payoff is $10,000, the jackpot is $15,453. However the term is regularly misused to indicate the total payoff amount.
Jackpot Meter
An electronic display of some type that displays the current jackpot mount.
Keno Computer

Rack
The tray that holds the keno balls when they are not in play.
Random Number Generator
A computer program used to randomly select numbers for a keno game.
Rate
The price for a ticket or way.
Rate Card
Provided by the casino. Shows payoffs for various bets.
Replayed Ticket
Giving a played ticket to the counter to replay the numbers.
RNG Game
When a computer program is used to randomly select numbers for a keno game.
Runner
A casino employee, usually a woman who goes through the casino restaurants and seating areas collecting keno wagers, and paying winners.
Shift Boss
The shift supervisor.
Sleeper
A winning ticket that is not turned in for payoff.
Special Rate

Split Ticket

Spot
The numbers marked on a keno ticket.
Straight Ticket

How to play Keno

Straight Tickets

This is the basic and the most common ticket. There are no complications here. You simply mark your numbers and wait for the draw. Of course there are a few more things you need to know.

You have to decide how many spots you want to play. Your last decision is to determine how much to bet. Ordinary straight tickets are $1.00, although some are 70 cents or lower. You can also play multiples of the base rates. For example, you could play a $1.00 ticket for $4.00, and your winnings will be multiplied by 4 times the $1.00 payout rate.

One very important thing to notice when playing multiples of the base rate; the casino will not pay more than the aggregate limit on any one game. So if the aggregate limit is $50,000, your payout will never exceed $50,000, no matter how much you bet. Take that into consideration when deciding how much money to wager.




Split Tickets

A split ticket is simply 2 or more straight tickets played on the same physical ticket. Each logical ticket includes a group of numbers that are either circled, or separated by a line. Each game (group of numbers) must have it's own unique numbers, and can not share numbers with any other group.

There is no advantage to a split ticket since you cannot use the same number more than once. It simply allows you to play two or more games on the same piece of paper. (The advantage might be said is that by joining the game you save paper and make it a friendly to environment game).




Way Tickets

The payouts on way tickets are the same as playing the same games in multiple tickets and so there are only two reasons to play a way ticket.

The first is convenience. If it is more convenient for you to mark multiple games on a single ticket, a way ticket may be for you.

The second reason to play a way ticket is fractional rates. Some casinos will let you play for as little as 10 cents per way, instead of the usual $1.00 you would have to play on a straight ticket, Thus, playing more games on the same amount of money.




Combination Tickets

Combination tickets provide the keno player the possibility to combine groups of straight bets on one ticket in various ways with the player betting one unit for each possible combination. Players can also combine straight bets and way bets on one ticket. The groups bet on a combination ticket should be marked clearly on the right hand side of the ticket.

King Tickets

A king ticket has one number that is circled by itself. This number is referred to as the King and can be used in combination with other groups of numbers on a ticket.

King tickets are marked similarly to way and split tickets with the number of combinations played and the amount wagered per group displayed on the right hand side of the ticket.




Special Tickets

These tickets are Games Extra Blog favorite, often offered by the casinos in order to promote their keno game.

A special ticket must be played in a certain way, decided before the game starts and pays off using a different pay schedule. This payout chart is usually marked on the special ticket itself. Special tickets usually offer slightly better deals than other keno tickets and are used to entice players. You still don't understand why it is our favorite? Read on.

An example of a special ticket is the one called top and bottom. A player pays $5.00 for this special ticket and chooses either the top 40 or the bottom 40 numbers on a card. If none of the numbers drawn are located in the section the player selected they still receive around $100,000. All other options are paid according to the special payout schedule. Keno History

Keno is in many ways similar to a lotto game. That's because keno is in fact lotto. During the 3000-years of keno history the name has been changed a few times, mostly to get around the law or taxes or both. The one thing everyone agrees on is that the Chinese invented the game to fund their army and The Great Wall.

Keno started out using 120 Chinese characters. Before the game left China, that number was reduced to 90. Keno came to America in the 19th century, together with the wave of Chinese immigrants. These were mostly the Chinese railroad workers of folklore. About this time the game was reduced once again, this time to 80 Chinese characters.

Although illegal (or maybe because), keno flourished among Chinese immigrants, especially around big cities like San Francisco. It became known as the Chinese lottery. English speaking Americans became interested in the game, but had difficulty differentiating the Chinese characters used in the game (who wouldn't). Around the beginning of the 20th century, keno operators replaced the Chinese characters with Arabic numbers to attract more players.

Although Nevada legalized most forms of gambling in 1931, the legislature did not legalize lottery. And the Chinese lottery was definitely a lottery. To avoid this trouble, operators simply changed the name to Race Horse Keno (simply genius). Each number was regarded as a horse. Today many keno operations still call their games "races". When the U.S. Government passed a law taxing off track betting, the name was once again changed, this time to just Keno.

In 1963 the total keno payout limit in Nevada was $25,000. In 1979 it was changed to $50,000. In 1989 the Nevada Gaming Commission removed the limit, and casinos are now free to set their aggregate limits as they wish.

So when you're sitting at the keno lounge or more comfortably at home with the computer, waiting for the board to flash the numbers, just think what a long tradition you are continuing, sit back, relax and enjoy the game.
